California Beans newest “bean team” member is student ambassador, Mikaela Tosta of Newman, California.
She is an Animal Science major at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in California. Besides being a full time student Mikaela works as the swine unit manager and also in the beef unit. She is active in several clubs at Cal Poly including the Cal Poly Ag Ambassadors, Young Cattleman’s Club, Block and Bridle Club, the Country Line Dancing Club along with helping to plan and run Cal Poly’s Western Bonanza show and Bull Test sale. When Mikaela graduates from Cal Poly in 2017, her goal is to pursue a career in livestock production and management or agribusiness. In her capacity as student ambassador Mikaela will be sharing photos and activities around campus and San Luis Obispo. Since she is a typical college student she will also send some tasty bean recipes that work well within a college student budget. She states “I’m excited to be a student ambassador because not only do I get to represent an important industry in California, but also promote and educate others on the importance of agriculture.” We are excited to see what our young “bean team” member shares with California Beans.
